Why Blogging Isn’t Going Anywhere

These days, blogging competes with many other forms of media like video sharing sites and podcast for views. However, blogging is not becoming obsolete anymore than books did after movies were invented for several reasons.

The first reason is certain kinds of media are better for certain kinds of content. Blogs are better for creating informational content while video sharing sites like YouTube and podcasting are better forms of media for entertainment. While there are many podcast and videos on YouTube whose main purpose is to inform as well as many blogs whose main purpose is to entertain, most media sharing sites generally follow this rule. Blogs also allow users a way to cite their sources easily making them an excellent information sharing tool.

The next reason is blogs can be easily translated as long as their site has a Google translate widget whereas audio can not be as easily translated. This gives bloggers a way to reach a global audience.

The final reason is blogs are easy to create. For video and audio content, camera angles and microphones have to be adjusted before recording and the content usually has to be edited afterwards. Blog post on the other hand, can be created in a matter of minutes.

The most important factor in deciding which media sharing platform to use is which one you enjoy using the most.
